Algiers Point is a ten-minute ferry ride just across the Mississippi River from the French Quarter and New Orleans' business district:  a quiet and safe enclave where the 19th century remains very much alive.   The Mississippi is very much a part of life in the neighborhood, from the jaunty passing of a paddle wheeler, to the drone of towboats carrying commerce, or the breath-taking sight of an ocean-going vessel towering high above the levee.   Greek Revival townhouses, Creole cottages, pastel-painted shotgun houses, and grand Victorians  line the Point?s streets,  where people are friendly, be it  sipping caf? noir at a corner coffee house, walking a letter to the post office, or simply relaxing on porch swings.

For transportation via ferry to Algiers Point, check the DODT website.
