Bourbon StreetBourbon Street Average User Rating: (0 votes, add your vote or comments) ![]() © The New Orleans Guide Bourbon Street - a popular destination for those who indulge in fine food, alcohol, girlie bars, gay bars, and novelty shops - is best experienced after dark. Of special note are Pat O’Brien’s (718 St. Peter), known for its beautiful courtyard and the Hurricane cocktail, and Preservation Hall (726 St. Peter) where some of the city’s greatest musicians have performed. Among those who have played are Mahalia Jackson, Fats Domino, the Nevilles, the Marsalis family, and Harry Connick Jr. Fritzel’s European Jazz Pub (733 Bourbon) is the place to go for good old-fashioned dixie-land jazz. At almost the edge of the Quarter, lies probably one of the best bars in the city: Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop (941 Bourbon). Brothers Lafitte, slave traders, built this structure some time between 1772 and 1791. The bar houses a piano and someone plays nightly. Do you know of a Place that should be included here?
